Whilst out and about in the run up to May’s election, many residents around Prittlewell Station bemoaned the fact that so much litter had been allowed to accumulate behind the chainlink fence along Station Approach and East Street. Not only is it an unpleasant site but discarded food waste encourages vermin into the area, increasing the risk of disease being spread to people and pets.
I took the matter up with Abelio Greater Anglia and received assurances that the matter would be dealt with swiftly, it did however take another couple of months plus a visit to, and further letter to the station manager before action was taken.
I’m pleased to say that the area is looking much better now and I’m grateful to Abelio Greater Anglia for listening to the complaints of local residents and remedying the problem. Personally I think either a higher fence or better still a solid wooden fence would be a long-term solution to preventing the future build up of litter in the area and have suggested this to the company for their consideration.
